More information about Japanese Meiji Teapot VTG Hand Painted, Sometsuke Blue & White, w Strainer

Sometsuke/ Blue & White, Japanese teapot of the Meiji period with typical Meiji design motifs in Sometsuke blue brush strokes, antique/ vintage. Japanese made porcelain teapot, Arita Ware/ Imari Ware crafter in the Japanese Sometsuke Seto underglaze pattern of the original cobalt blue on the contrasting white.

The teapot has a truly lovely feel, the finish on the Sometsuke teapot is fine, making the look and feel ultra smooth, and a lovely clear glaze all over the outside of the teapot, except for the bottom of the pot. There is a nice feel of glaze on the inside of the teapot too, except for on the removable ceramic strainer. The hand painted designs of Meiji /Sometsuke are crisp and create a botanical garden like setting, and the vessel is quite Lightweight which also matches up with the feel of the Sometsuke design and experience.

Teapot is in MINT vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Fine glaze covering!
7" width from tips of spout & handle
    4.5" H for the kettle/ pot,
